INTERIOR PAINTING: Choosing the right painting contractor for the job..!
When having interior painting done at your home for whatever reason, be it to sell your home, or just to update your home with new and popular colors, or simply just to refresh the colors you already have on your walls, you need to make sure you hire the right painting company for the job. Interior repainting is the most meticulous section of the painting industry and takes several years experience to get a quality job, and overall amazing look. If there are repairs, even if they are smaller repairs, you need to make sure that they are done correctly. Some painters don't have the knowledge of repairs. I have actually met quite a few that weren't to bad with a brush and roller, but had little to no experience in repairs. There may be a painter with 10 years experience, but it could have been in new construction, or commercial, or production painting, or even residential painting but strictly did exteriors. Just because they had that many years, does not mean that they are qualified on interior repaints. So, ask the painting contractor when he, or she comes to your home to give you the estimate, "how long have you been in the painting business?", "how many interiors have you painted during that time?", "how many of those were repaints?", "how many years experience does your crew members have?", "do you have referrals?", and so forth. Also make sure they are insured, bonded, and have workers compensation. You will know by the detailed answers you get, that are answered almost immediately following your questions if they are knowledgeable enough in the repaint industry. If they don't have all the answers, or if they seem unsire of certain aspects, then you most likely want to choose another painting contractor. There are different painting companies different parts of the industry. There are painting companies that specialize in interiors, some that specialize in exteriors, others specialize in commercial, or specialize in industrial, and so on and so forth. There are plenty that have experience in both interior and exterior painting for residential. But if your are choosing to have residential painting done, either interior or exterior painting, I would be sure to contact a painting contractor that specializes solely in residential. I would not call a company that has the signs that say residential/commercial painting company. To me that says we spent a little time in both industries and not enough in just one. And vice versa, if you are needing commercial work done, I'd go with a commercial painting company. They are out there, just do your homework, and research the painting companies near you, read the reviews, check there website, get referrals, etc. We are a Residential Painting Company located in Cincinnati Ohio. Our number one specialty in the residential painting industry is interior repaints. We have done every kind of painting imaginable, but where we have spent most of our career is on interiors. We can do new construction, production painting, or even commercial if we are needing the work, but where we are at our most comfortable is residential repaints on interiors especially. We also do quite a bit of residential exteriors as well. But our advertisements specify that we are a residential painting company that does both interiors and exteriors. So, if you are in the Cincinnati area, and need your house painted, either interior or exterior, we are the company for you. I am the owner of Purdon's Pro Painting Plus, and i am only one of 2 men in the united states that is an actual certified interior repaint expert. That is quite an honor to hold that title, and to be only 1 of 2 people in the entire United States that has that certificate. That was an amazing accomplishment for myself, and I let ALL of our customers know, so they know that they are definitely in the right hands with their homes. During the process of that 6 week course I learned a great dela regarding the materials painters use, which I was already very knowledgeable, however, I did know as much as I thought. Sadly enough, there are many painters that don't know as much as they'd like to think they do. I have over 20 plus years in the painting industry, and the things I learned during the course I would have never known had I not taken it. It's a great thing to know about what it is you use in whatever industry you are in. So, if you are a painter and you are reading this, I strongly advise for you to learn about paint itself. Also take the time to learn about other products as well. Items such as drywall mud, caulking, primers, stain blockers, bonding agents, and more importantly, the paint. Well, I hope this was of some value to someone out there. Thanks for reading, and until next time, Happy Painting..!

Get your walls, ceilings, and trims painted, and SAVE MONEY..!
To all you homeowners that are looking to get an upgrade to your home, however, don't have it in your budget to get the ceilings, walls, and trims painted, even though they all desperately need it. You can ask the painting contractor to let you purchase the ceiling and trim paint on his, or her account, and paint those areas yourself. It won't matter if you are going to get the paint on the walls. If they are a real professional painting company, then they should be able to apply to coats of paint to your walls, and make the cut lines even over the trim, and ceilings. The wall paint will cover the trim paint, as well as ceiling paint if you do carry the paint over onto the walls. You can even tape the trim off yourself. The should be able to generate a straight enough ;line themselves on the ceiling cut ins. Also, go with the semi gloss you use for your trim in the closets. Do the entire closet that way there are no uneven cuts. It will be durable against putting in things for storage, as well as create a lot of light for you with the reflections from the gloss. All you'll need the painting contractor for is to bring his or her painters and paint your walls. If they don't allow you to use their account at the local paint store, then they probably are not worth using after all, and you can always call another one that I am sure would not mind. They should just be appreciative that you're hiring them for the work anyway. Also, you could wait until the winter time to do the project because the majority of your painting companies are holding specials, and offering discounts during the winter months due to the slow season. Well, hopefully this was helpful, and you gained some sort of value from this blog post, and until next time, Happy Painting..!

Getting what you pay for
http://www.purdonspropainting.com
When you are in need of anything, just anything in general, you always look for some sort of a bargain. At least I know I do, and the majority of the people I know, do as well. Be it shopping, going out to eat, hiring a contractor, or a company to receive service from, and so forth. You and I alike, look for the most reasonably priced, what-ever-the-heck it is, to save us money. Yet after everything is said and done, if you took the cheap route, chances are, you are not going to be happy with the results. When I'm hungry, and need a quick fix, I go to McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, or some other fast food joint, and blow money on garbage food. However, after I finish eating, if I can actually finish the food, I end up regretting my choice. That just about goes with any thing I choose, when it is the cheap way out. The reason for name brand items is not "the money" quite like everyone would like to think, but it's about quality. Name brand items are usually made a great deal better than most other brands exact same items, which is why it has gotten to be a name brand in the first place, because of the quality, or just simply because it's better. You don't go to McDonald's to buy a T-bone steak, nor do you go to Wal Mart to buy Nike or Reebok shoes, or to buy Banana Republic clothing for that matter. Nope, you go to Wal Mart to get Route 66, or Wranglers, because they are cheap. However, is that really your safest and best bet when having your home or your vehicle worked on? Not really. So why try to search for the cheapest contractor in the city to provide you services? Chances are, you will be getting exactly what you pay for....which is, cheap service. I know that I don't have hundreds of dollars lying around to just throw into having work done on my home that isn't going to last, or even work properly. I am going to go with a company that I know is going to provide incredible service. Because I'd rather purchase service once every 10 years or so, than every year or 2. If you have a painting contractor coming over to bid on your home, and he just simply throws a low number out there without giving specifics as to why he is bidding so low, other than to win the job, or why it will cost less going with them, then you may want to watch out choosing that company. If they can't offer quality, or more value with their service, then ask yourself if they are the right choice, regardless how cheap. Because we've already established that cheap is not always the way to go, especially when it counts the most. I have dealt with a lot of homeowners/customers that thought everyone can paint, and that it literally should be inexpensive to paint their entire interior, and or exterior. Well, in my opinion, any body can slap paint on a wall, but only an experienced painter, with good customer service, and their best interests in mind, knows how to do it right, in terms of appearance, and durability. So, next time you are looking for a painting contractor to bid your home, don't look for the cheapest contractor in town, and worry solely about pricing. It may cost you less in the long run, and the job will end up being a great deal better, not only with the look, but with the quality of how long it will last, and how well it will hold up. So, when choosing a company for work on your home, do your research, and remember cheap is not always best. I once heard that it's better to have a little of great stuff than a lot of junk. Thanks for reading, and until next time, Happy Painting!!!

PrOhio Painting 101
When people call a plumber they automatically know they're paying for them to just come and take a look at your plumbing, and tell you what's wrong. Then, they know that if he actually fixes your issue, it's going to be several hundred dollars for just a couple of hours. If it takes days, you're going to be looking at several 1000. When remediation and cleanup companies come out and do mold remediation and removal it's well over 5 grand or more for a few days work. Carpentry-few grand for a few days, remodeling-few grand for a few days, TV repairmen-few hundred for a few hours, appliance repairmen-few hundred for a few hours, carpet installation-several hundred for a few hours, and the list goes on. However, when a painter comes looks at your house to tell you what it will take, people think it should be, and it typically is, free. But they also think that painters should come in, paint their entire home, which can take several days depending the size of the home, and do the work for a couple to a few hundred dollars. I don't understand what has happene to make people think this way but it is like a slap in the face to go estimate someone's home and them wanting their entire house painted and think that it should cost them a couple hundred dollars to do so. Painting is one of the hardest jobs there is in the construction industry due to it's tediousness. It's certainly one of, if not the most, noticeable job you can have done. It's overall the job that makes your home look great or not. You could have had a great carpenter do the carpentry work, but if it isn't painted right, now painted at all, it will not look all that great. If your plumbing was fixed, you can't see it, so was it really? Painting, it shows, and you'll know if the job looks good or not. Now, there is certainly a better way to approach a painting project that can make it not only look great but make it last longer. It is the most overlooked, underrated constuction job out there, and I really wish people would give us painter the respect that we deserve. Heck, the cost of paint alone is high dollar. So why would material be so expensive and yet the labor be so cheap? It isn't. Fact is, painting is very hard work. That's why your local hardware, and home improvement stores have every installation crew known to man but yet none have a painting crew. I was by no means being disrespectful during this blog post, I was just mentioning the obvious to gain painters their respect back. It's just a post to get people who want painting done to understand the nature of the job and how hard it actually is, and that it should not be considered an easy task that does not pay much, it's actually what makes your home it's most beautiful. So please, if you are looking to have your home painted, just know that it should not be done for little to nothing, it will most likely take several thousand to have your entire home painted, RIGHT. Thanks for reading, no disrespect intended, and until next time, Happy Painting!

What to look for when hiring a painting contractor.
When hiring a painting contractor, you want to make sure that they are knowledgeable in the field. Especially with whatever project that you may want, or need, done. For instance, in one of my recent blog post, I gave tips on how to paint over plaster walls, if you have plaster walls, you'll want to make sure that they are skilled in that area. There are several things you'll want to be sure of. Are they insured? Bonded? Have workers compensation? And so on and so forth. Something else, and this has also been mentioned in one of my previous blogs, be sure that you are hiring a company that has employees, and not paying someone to sub out the work to another company/crew. Listen carefully to everything they say, and rather or not he listens to you as well. Will you be buying the paint, or will it be added in the proposal? If so, are they going to purchase the paint? How many coats are being applied? The differences in paint finishes and sheens. There are several factors that will play a role in the painting of your home and you want only the best to do the project. I am well aware of the fact that homeowners don't just have the money laying around to have a paint crew come in and just apply paint in any fashion. If you are paying top dollar for their services, be sure that they supply top dollar service. I hope that this was helpful, and until next time, happy painting.
